Default 6000CS issue, any advice

I have 6000CS speakers and a Pioneer deh-p77mp headunit and the sound isn't great at high volume or if a track has a bit of bass, even at quite low volumes.

I noticed yesterday that the door card isn't completey flush where the speakers are so I think the issue may be from using incorrectly sized spacers (Vauxhal Corsa ones, recommended by the ICE dealer) and they may be too deep pushing the speaker against the door card.

Where can I buy some proper spacers, how much and what specific size do I need? If anyone has made some, how much would you do a separate set for? Live in Kingston & work in Clapham if that helps or I'm happy to use good old royal mail.

Any sugegstions?

I used 12mm MDF and it's fine.
Just use the old speakers as a template.

Yeah I just used 12mm MDF too. IIRC the Corsa spacers are a lot deeper than 12mm so that might be giving you the problem.

Try this (if you can be ar$ed)

1. take off door card
2. remove speaker
3. put a blob of soft blu-tack on the corsa mount
4. refit door card, and then remove again

If the blu-tack is deformed then you have a problem with the clearance.

Gary.

Thanks Garry. So simple I'd never have thought of that :-)

I would also apply Dynamat to the inner door skin and the outer skin behind the magnet.

In addition I used sillicone sealant between the MDF and the door...
