I looked for a while for some new speakers for my car, I ended up chosing these to be honest, they are pants, no bass, treble is overwhelming and sounds ****, I am not happy at all. Can anyone recomend which ones to replace them with?

I have had 6.5" components before that cost me next to nothing when i lived overseas and the sound quality was excellent, I am a little lost, do i have to stick with them and add some 6x9s on the rear shelf??

this is in a my03 sti btw. I am thinking of either, 1 replacing them for something better, with some smaller speakers in the rear door, or 2 put some 6x9 on the back shelf and fade more to the rear.

But as i remember my last setup, it was the front components that gave the best sound.....???? any suggestions appreciated??

seems alot of people rate the dual mags, which are not that much more expensive, is it worth upgrading the 160w kenwoods in the door to be 200w dual mag components? is there gonna be a noticeable difference?

First off, check that the speakers are not out of phase, as that can suck all bass out of your system.

Secondly, if you're using the standard headunit then that is a problem. A swallow farting produces a slightly more powerful sound, and is a little more pleasant to listen to

Turn off loudness on the H/U, as this normally boosts treble too.

If these are components, you should have an option for tweeter attenuation on the cross over. Try that.

Kenwoods aren't normally over bright, so it sounds like something else may be causing the problems?

ok i just spoke to someone else, the head unit is not a great one, although not the standard one, that could add to the problem, So i guess new head unit on the way tomorrow and when we set it up ill check the crossover settings, got a little vibration on one side, not sure if the its catching the door card, or the its the door plastic.

How about 6 x 9s? good ones that produce nice sound? i have been recomended 6959ie from kenwood, however I have seen tehm on special offer for only 25pounds, cant be that good at that price? the person who recomended them said they are usually about 90pounds, any suggestions for rear shelf??

thanks

hi mate wire your front components up 2 an amp this will give you better sound and also better bass.try this first cos you will get away with buying a newhead unit.because the amp is powereing the speakers and the headunit is merely playing the music.the key to any good setup is to have no speakers running off the headunit,it doesnt matter even if the headunit is powerful.i had all my components running off an amp and then my subs running off another amp.this sound crisp because the crossovers will sort everything out for you.
