I've got a 96 Sti and have come to fit a new head unit, took the old one out and the sodding thing is soldered onto the loom, which has at some point had the connector chopped! Does anyone have a wiring diagram of with colours for what is what cos I'm doomed otherwise!
Edited as I forgot to say, there's also a couple of miles of cable with "something illegible crossover" boxes about an inch long. Anyone shed any light on why they're there? One end is connected to the existing HU, nothing to the other.

Hi M8
I've got the same motor Jap STi 3 my96
Done the same as yourself and have a spare conector that is all colour coded. Were u based, if it's local to Rochdale I'm more than happy to help you sort it. (just seen IOM so that'll be a no then)
I know it's a pain just make sure you purchase a car to head unit lead they cost £9 / 10 and can be solded chopped very easily.
My moror came wwith a load of "Spare wires" after looking carefully there was Sat nav cables and a TV unit under the passanger seat. I got rid of the lot without any problems. I'll have a look at the loom that came out and drop u a colour coding diagram.
e-mail me direct if I can help Raymond.Walton@BTInternet.com

I just fitted a JVC KD-LH1101 in my MY95 WRX.
Had to solder the connector with head unit to the new loom - my cables matched the colours in the instructions:
Connect in following sequence-
1. Black(ground)
2. Yellow (to car battery - constant 12V)
3. Red - to accessory terminal.
4. Blue with white stripe (power aerial)
5. Orange with white stripe (carlight control switch)
6. Brown - to cellular phone switch.
Note I did not connect 5 and 6 so tape the end of the wire.
7. white with black stripe - '-' front left speaker.
8. white - '+' front left speaker
9. gray with black stripe - '-' front right speaker
10 gray - '+' front right speaker
11 green with black stripe - '-' rear left speaker
12 green - '+' rear left speaker
13 purple with black stripe - '-' rear right speaker
14 purple - '+' rear right speaker.
just matche the colours, twisted ends of wire together and soldered the connections then wrapped in insulating tape.
Was straight forward and my new unit works!
Hope this helps!!
