Help: Any way of unlocking Citroen Xantia std head unit?
#1
Before anyone asks - this is my dad's unit (paid for etc)
The lcd front panel has lost the plot so he's tried inputing the code and made enough cockups for it to lock him out...
It's a double din unit (model 3030) made for the car (m-reg, '95)
Is there any way of unlocking it ourselves without taking it somewhere and being charged (tight Yorkshireman )
Is it a case of disconnection for a while, fridge jobs or other folklore etc? The manual says about it locks for an hour after 3 attempts but when it comes back on, the lcd is gibberish
Help!
TIA
Apple
PS Chairk - if this is classed as unnofficial / dodgy, let me know / delete it

A Citroen dealership should be able to get you the code for the radio. Renault did this free of charge for me in a previous car...
Freezers, and other urban myths, do bugger all apart from damage the LCD panel

Thanks Nick
We already have the code but I quess a dealer will just laugh at the age of the unit and the state of the lcd
Might have to be a look round for a replacement - OE or otherwise

oooohhhhhh, the penny drops! Sorry!
I've had a Vauxhall unit decoded by a place in Leeds before, when it turned out that the number in the car's manual and on vauxhall's records was wrong. They reset the code to a code of my choice, and reckoned that it had been reprogrammed before which is why it didn't match the dealer records
Anyhow, you could get it set to 1111 or something which should be easy to enter.
It was a place in Pudsey, Leeds. Reasonable price. If this is your area, I can try and find the exact name if it would help?
Cheers,
Nick.

Might as well give them a go
I don't think my old single din conversion facia from my zx would fit as he could have my sony h/u
on a different topic - scoob related
do alpine 9812 / 9813 head units fit straight into an my02 without cutting surrounds etc?
the rear changer mounting brackets sold by dealers aren't similar to the L-shaped ones that come on a changer by any chance as I'd use the ones on a new changer rather than paying for something I didn't need? Are they a special fit, i.e. common changer fastening but scoob only mounting?
what's the security like on alpine units?
sorry for so many questions but might as well ask the boss...
