Question

Hi,
The subject line says it all, really...

My standard-fit double height unit has been playing up alot recently. A few times, I've removed it, wiggled some connectors, and it started working again. Unfortunately, the wiggling has stopped working :-(

As I've already got a standard height head unit (JVC) which combines a CD and MD, and would like to give this a go, as I already seem to be in the business of pulling the stereo out.

Any suggestions as to what bits I need to buy, in order to replace the standard unit, without leaving a big hole in the dash? (I'm thinking possibly a cage & blanking plate?).

Also, any ainstallation tips would be welcome.

Cheers,
G.

buy a din size multi cd player, or possibly ring some breakers to get hold of the sorage box you can get which replaces the empty gap.

It has the same screw holes in the side so should fit in in the same way as the new headunit will.

This is probably the most common question asked in the ICE forum and a couple of us have answered it in detail here:

http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/threa...hreadid=284892

I would also recommend a visit to the web site written by Chiark, one of the moderators here - it's got really good instructions and advice and has some handy photos:

www.chiark.com

Hope that helps,

DJNafey

P.S. I just bought a universal pocket (available from any ICE shop) to fill in the hole.

Hi,

thanks all for your input. In the (temporary)absence of a working PC, I took a visit to my local ICE shop. My replacement head unit is now installed, together with an averagely-useful plastic tray thingy.

Thanks for the links... that'll give me some ideas on new toys!

Cheers,
G.

Thumbs up

No problem mate. If you have any more questions or have something that you want to buy or sell and want advice, just post a new thread. I've only actively been here for a couple of months but I can't believe how useful these boards are - there's loads of help on offer in the Scoobynet community. You will get one or more answers to ANYTHING you ask!
