I bought an amp from a local Car hifi outfit, 100yds down the road it was wining like mad, took it back and the guy said it was a cheap amp and thats what you get! Anyhow upgraded to an Alpine amp under Pss seat and the difference if day and night, that said I still have a slight wine and its eems to have got a little worse... the amp drives the two front speakers and the 10" sub in the boot, not the back doors!
Any ideas??????
Also if i amped up the rear pair would it sound any better.
I should know better started work as a sound ingineer b4 moving to IT but don't know the car audio stuff!

Does the whine only occur when the car is running ? and does the pitch change with revs ? If so sounds like alternator whine.
You can either fit an alternator supressor, improve the earthing and powersupply of the amp and install decent quality RCA cable that earth as well.
Hope it helps.

I have just installed a system in MY97 and I have the same prob, have a quality RCA lead and have run this seperately to the power lead, have also put a supresser after the header unit and before the RCA - also created a new earth in the boot for the amps and this cut the wine down a lot but still an hear it when you rev the car...
