My Bro has a gadget like an audio cassette that he connects a minidisc player to and puts into the cassette player in the van.
Can you buy the same sort of thing but without the need for minidisc players or cables, ie, some kind of flash memory gadget that you pop all your mp3's on and then just put it in the cassette player and off you go.

on a related subject, I've got an MP3 player but with no tape deck on the head unit, I can't use the gadget thing like MJ's brother.
Is there anything about that I could use to hook up my MP3 player to a CD head unit?

how much for? I've done a search on the web for them and I'm not sure what I've found...
I assumed you were just talking about a cable that plugged into the Line out on the mp3 player and the Aux in on the head unit, but all I found was this
which didn't seem right to me...??

That's the boy. Sony don't make it easy. Most of their HUs require this box to tell the Unilink bus to enable an aux in.
We can do XA300 at £89 delivered.
If you've already got a changer, simply buy a 2-way phono switch from Maplin and when you're in changer mode, flip the switch so that the audio source comes from your mp3 player.

I'll have to think about it - that was a bit more than I was after spending. Thought I was looking at £20 tops for a cable. B@stards.
Thanks for you help, though - I'll drop you a mail if / when I'm ready to go for it.
Does it come with all required cables, btw?

Sony offer the following cables as an option:
Unilink cable to connect XA-300 to head unit: £41.57
Phono cables from XA-300 to head unit: £102.52
Only joking Everything required is in the box, bar the mp3 player to XA-300 cable.
