Or you could buy them from the people you're leeching the picture from for $492.60 including taxes and shipping (around 310 quid)

I'm considering the following 3 motorised head units and would appreciate your opinions on what one to get.....

1) Kenwood KVT 920 DVD.
Motorised screen
Touch screen
DVD player
In-built TV tuner
6.5" screen
non MP3
Best price : £1300

2) Clarion VRX 928 RVD
Motorised screen
Touch screen
DVD player
No TV tuner
7" screen
MP3 capability
Best price : £1100

3) Pioneer AVH P6500 DVD
Motorised screen
Touch screen
DVD player
No TV tuner
6.5" screen
MP3 capability
Best price : £1000

Your thoughts........

I have the Pioneer unit and LOVE it!

Fantastic quality and value for money

I look at the others and MP3 was vital so Kenwood went out the window.. then looked at Clarion and found its setting were lacking i.e. setting custom frequencies and cross overs. I couldnt find them in the menu items BUT itis available if u buy the extra DSP box

The pioneer has the various settings i neeeded and in my opinion was the bestof that bunch...

Plus the Pioneer is this years model whereas the Kenwood and Clarion were available last year, not thats a bad thing but they are likely to be replaced next year (Pioneer probably will but has more of a chance of sticking around).

Talizman,

You missed out on the Alipne version, which is top kit. A place called Mobile world in Hounslow was selling the alpine 6.5 screen and a centurion DVD player to fit double din size all for £700!!!

A mate of mine got it and it looks all good

It was the lastest Alpine 1004 too !

Cheers Smellyvag, but I'd like a combined DVD/screen and the cheapest Alpine combined is nearly £2k....

I've got the Clarion and love it to bits. I've seen both the other screens in action and they're just not as clear in quality, nor do they have the expandability of the Clarion setup. The 7" screen makes a difference as well.

As for the TV Tuner - do you really want to watch TV in the car? There's a good many "decent" Audio shops that won't give you a guarantee when you get a tuner as to the picture quality, they even steer you away when you go for one, telling you that it won't be that good. I've seen the quality myself and I'm not impressed at all.

Some valid points blue boy.

Chiark, got the article.... kinda slate the Kenwood as its a bit dated now.

The Alpine gets the decision but its circa £2k!

SAMMYH,I just fitted my dvd player in the glove box on my 94 wrx. read the installin manual and it says it has to be played at no more than 30 degree angle, however when u close the glove box it wud sit at about 70 so ive been playing it only with the glove box open.is this what you have to do?
