Bad vibrations
#1
hello people. Can someone pleeaassseee help me! I've just installed a rather large boot build which includes two 12" pheonix gold subs. When the bass is thumpin it seems to make the rear wrx boot spoiler rattle like crazy. It sound brilliant from inside but it extreamly noticable from outside. Is there any cures, any sujestions are much appriciated! cheers

Erm, remove the spoiler
More seriously, you will have troubles with this. Also, check the bumper as that's pretty likely to be the real cause of vibrations.
People have tried packing spoilers out with little success. Sound deaden the whole boot and then start adding more...

My spoiler vibrates a little during ordinary driving so I guess a couple of subs ain't going to help. The boot lid is tinny as supplied. Loads of sound deadening should help.
Also, the boot may be supported by the rubber seal partially. Check that you can't move the boot lid by pushing down on it. If you can then try adjusting the lock striker or fitting rubber/felt pads on the bump stops to minimise the movement.
Vindaloo.

Sound deadening.
And tighten up any screws/bolts etc.
The deadening material should also help with the bass reproduction too.
If you're going to get Dynamat, make sure it's Dynamat Xtreme. It's half the weight, several times the deadening quality and about the same price as original Dynamat. Get it in a bulk pack, cut it to the right shape yourself, and stick it on. You don't even need to heat it up, and if you do it in small enough sections you won't need a roller.
If you have any Dynamat leftover after the boot is done, spread the excess over the front 2 doors, evenly. Put it behind the speakers if you can.
