Anyone know the max size of speakers that will fit in the rear doors of a MY03 WRX. Also do the rear doors suffer from the same lack of depth that the fronts do?

I've just bought some refurbished Infinity 552i's which are 5 1/4 inch with 2 1/2 inch mounting depth and require 4 7/8 inch hole so I'm hoping they'll fit, otherwise they will be in the for sale section pretty soon.

The OEMs are 4 inch. You'll need to either build a small baffle or cut some metal to make 5 1/4s fit. Depth is not an issue, because you've got no window behind there even when the window is down as far as it'll go

 

I've put some rather nice JBL 5.25's in the rear, but had to cut about 5mm off 3 sides with a jigsaw, but I only had to do this and not put a spacer in because the JBL's have a raised swiveling tweeter, which also meant I had to "smooth" the speaker moulding inside the door card ...

The JBL's have huge magnets are something like 70mm deep - but no problems at all - and they sound great!
