Can anybody tell me how to get to the speakers? i.e. how the panels come off, is it easy? how long did it take?

any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Also, any advice on what are good head units at the mo? I quite like the mask jobbies from kenwood, but am open to suggestions!!

Cheers,

Neil

The latest SIDC magazine has a very good step by step article (with photos) on how to change the front speakers. I would imagine the rears are very similar.

Neil,
I would be interested in your old unit if you are selling it.
Thanks

Changed my headunit this weekend, went for an Alpine 9812RB and there is a big difference in sound quality, even with the standard speakers.

Nick, would there be a noticable improvement in performance with component front speakers and is so which ones will fit fairly easily? The instructions for removing the door panels on your web site are excellent, saves me breaking the panel to bits when I remove it!

Sorry to hijack the thread but did you have any problems fitting the Alpine ? Where did you take the 20A supply from ?

20 amp supply direct to battery and the switched 12V supply from the headunit wiring loom. Once I realised it needed both I was sorted, much scratching of head until I realised!

Speakers next, the standard ones sound better with the Alpine, but Focals or Infinity components should be better still.

I personally have the Focal Polyglass V2 components and love them to pieces - would never entertain another brand of speakers but its all down to personal opinion.

It is all down to personal opinion - sound is a very personal thing. One man's "awesome" is another's "inyerface" and vice versa...
