Leaving front speakers
#1
My front speakers are Sony and not up to deep base. Sextons have recccommended replacing with focals and Uplands have reccommended leaving them as mid range is OK and adding additional phase amplifier and 12" sub woofer in boot.
Which is best advice please ?

the sonys will not play your music that loudly and clear. the only way to do this is to High Pass the frequencies at aorund 80Hz. this will stop them trying to play the low notes that often distort the sound.
if you realy want punchy mid bass, then definately upgrade the fronts and High Pass them at 50hz or thereabouts. Focals are a good speaker, but there are plenty more out there to chose from.
as mentioned in your other thread, use a sub for the low stuff, and deaden the metal with Extreme!!! and in the doors, it will help $h!t loads with sound imaging..

What are you looking for? if you want some decent bass then a sub is a good idea and get am amp to high pass filter your fronts and low the sub. This
If your not into bass then just a high on the fronts should do but there are plenty better than sony about as they seem to be very positivly rated!
Best bet would be to audition both before definative decision.
