I'm considering the following head units, to upgrade from the double DIN one installed:
Alpine CDA-9812RB
Blaupunkt Los Angeles MP72
Pioneer DEH-P7500 MP3
Which would provide the best sound quality and should I be considering other headunits, if so which ones? I will also be buying an MP3 changer and upgrading the speakers at a later date.

Personally, I think the blaupunkt gives the cleanest sound for the money, plus ease of use and the fact that the silver facia looks very good in the dash. That, and filling the second DIN slot with the ID-09 in dash changer was enough to persuade me to get one, and I'm completely happy (although the install has grown a little around it) However, Alpine/Pioneer/Kenwood often seem to be more common choices on here.
Doing the front speakers in particular will also pay real dividends, when you get the chance.

Dan, I find headunits pretty much of a muchness... Go for what has the features that you want and the ergonomics you'll use.
Cheers,
Nick
BTW, I went for the Kenwood PSW9524 and like it

Thanks for the advice guys, still not sure which one to go for, but it seems that all should be better than the factory one.
If I can get a good deal on the HU I might even buy the speakers at the same time, I'll have a look at previous threads for advice on them.
The Kenwood looks good Nick, a bit to expensive for me though, priority was on the PPP for my WRX!

Have a look at my other post (MY03 ICE Help!)...the Alpine I've bought does not seem to want to take it's power from the existing wiring loom, so if you plan to fit the unit yourself, it may be more tricky than you think.

I had a 9812RB - but just couldn't get used to how bright it was at night time - and my personal feeling is that the ergonomics on Alpines aren't the best - sometimes you push THIS button to select, sometimes you push THAT button.
Now got a Pioneer 77mp - sounds every bit as good as the Alpine - maybe even a bit smoother.
