Irrational fears after amp install!
#1
Ok, so amp install done - first one I've done in about six years and first in such a new car and I'm still a bit worried.....
I've got 8 gauge power cable with 40 amp fuse about 6" from battery, 8 gauge earth for a Pioneer GMX 374 (400w). Unit is installed fastened behind rear seat, powering the fronts only for the moment. RCA's down the centre, speaker cable down either side.
So does this sound about right? I'm worried about shorting and stuff and I'm frightened of electricity

Sounds wonderful
Your 40A fuse is in just the right place, so if the worst did happen then all that would happen is a blown fuse
Your wiring run locations are IMHO spot on too.
Cheers,
Nick

Thanks Nick, just needed reassurance!! Mainly surprised cos there were no problems (apart from threading speaker cable through the rubber grommets and connecting hose for the door speakers).
Now to tackle this 6x9 parcel shelf job.....
