Thinking of buying an Optima battery, which one would suit my needs. I have a split charge system with the OEM(MY00) battery to crank the car and a deep charge marine battery in the boot. Should i replace the OEM batt with a yellow top or red top? The marine batt is only around 1 year old, so still in good condition.
Many thanks for any advice.

yellow top is better, both have fantastic cold cranking amp ability, but in truth neither is ideal for car audio.
A system should not be run without the alternator, and a 1 farad cap should be enough to sort out your instantaenous current drawing requirements.

Probably stick with my OEM battery for now as i do have a 1 farad cap in the system already, so i dont think it is worth speanding £150+ on a battery that will not give me any extra power, apart from cold cranking that is. The car is kept in a garage anyway and is used everyday so cold cranking is not a critical issue.
Thanks for the advice.
