Angry

Right then guys,

I've installed the speakers, Inf 4002i in the rear (had to fit the black plastic surround behind the door to give the right clearance for the tweeter).

Inf 6000CS in the front (12mm MDF spacers)

Sorted the mastic (see http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/threa...hreadid=223298)

Now all the plastic sheeting is rattling like bu99ery when the volume/bass goes up. What have you done to eliminate this - taking the whole lot off sounds a bit extreme!

Cheers

This is quite funny after the mastic thread......

Take off the weather shield and cover the inside of the door with noisekiller, dynamat or aluminium flashing strip (cheapo alternative).

Another option was to fit spongy foam (25 mm?) inside the door panels to damp down the pastic membrane.

Vindaloo.

Cheers Vindaloo - I got the irony of it too

I've done some "Brown Breading" (Dynamat) of the door / panel.

I have some spare foam, might give that a go. Didn't know whether mastic-ing the plastic round the holes would stop it from having such a large area to resonate over though?

More ideas welcome

Lose the sheeting. There's nothing on the door card that could be damaged IMHO, as it's plastic, not cardboard or fibreboard.

Dynamatting has to be worth the effort, even the panels sound different when you tap them.

I have been spending some time doing mine, I am thinking of retaining the plastic liner where the rods that open the door run (so that they are free to move) with Dynamat on top and sealing the rest of the door up with just Dynamat.

Have already covered the inside of the door skin

I have added some dynamat to the plastic to give it more weight and also put some additional double sided sticky tape around.

Much better now, but with the door card on I can still notice the odd bit.

I'm gonna live it now and see how I feel after a few weeks
