Practicalities of In-car TV

Just to follow on the earlier thread of TV tuner...
Does anyone have experience of using a tv in a car - both standing still and on the move? I once spoke to a taxi driver who had one and he said it was pretty much useless when moving but I can't assume this is the case because in-car tv can cost a lot of money.
Would it be best to forget the idea and install a dvd player and/or playstation instead?
