Dension will offer additional DMP3-C players to use with existing DH-100 head units and as 2.5" drive prices fall, will also offer larger capacities. There's also nothing preventing you opening the case, voiding the warranty and replacing the 2.5" 20GB drive with a larger one. It's simply a FAT32 formatted drive.

Multimedia

Per phone call, a set of firmware upgrades should do it. Ping me when done and we'll get you up & running.

Question

Hi folks,

I'm thinking of changing the head unit in my STi7 and getting one of those Denison mp3 player thingies to link up to it so basically I'm after suggestions as to what people would suggest for a good unit. The criteria are....

Ideally would interface with the Denison, (which limits the choice to Sony, Alpine, Grundig and Blaupunkt).
Sounds excellent, (I currently have a Pioneer 8400 so I want something at least as good as that).
Looks good.
Has fancy displays / entertainment options (I'm used to having Pioneer units ).
Will fit into the dashboard of an Sti7, (not all head units will fit due to the surrounding trim - I had to remove the trim around the Pioneer head unit to get that to fit).

The other option is getting a unit with an aux in, and linking one of the Denison head units to it, (so I'd just select aux on the main head unit then use the Denison head unit to control the mp3 playback). Not sure if this is possible though?

Cheers,
Iain

Iain... Aux in is deffo an alternative and then opens you up to lots of nice HUs.

In 3-4 months we should also have support for Becker and Kenwood with Pioneer a possibility so you could always start with one of these brands with aux-in and then simply change the Dension CarHost as and when.

Hmm, that sounds good Lee. I presume the forthcoming carhosts will work with any of the kenword tuners (that support a cd changer)? I don't want to buy one that won't be compatible if/when the new carhost comes out...

Cheers,
Iain

Yep. We'll be going for "lowest common denominator" Kenwood support. If you're a Kenwood fan, it's probably a good idea to start off with the "universal" DMP3 using the Kenwood aux in (CA-C1AX) and then you can consider upgrading to the Kenwood-compatible CarHost later this year.

One more question that just occurred.

How long is the lead for the satellite display etc. Was wondering if it would be long enough to put the main disc unit in the boot, and feed the wire through to the front of the car...

Cheers,
Iain

They're imminent. We should have the first production units in the UK in 2-3 weeks. Watch for a banner

Hi John

We now have stock of the DH-100 series in dash 20GB HD/Tuner at www.ihavetohave.it. They're not online yet but will be in the next 2-3 days. In the meantime you can order by phone on 0871 871 9747.

The DH-200 CD/Tuner to control the 80GB DMP3A is 2-3 weeks away.

There will be an updated banner up there soon

Cheers

Lee.

Pheew, quick reply!! Thanks

God, now I actually have to make a decision!!!!!!

I was thinking of going with the DH-100 series.....hmmmmmm how much was it again? (email me if you want as per profile if you arent allowed to post prices etc...)

I dont think I really need the extra capacity of the 80gb drive, but I'm just deciding if I can do without CD capabilities at all......

Cheers again for the quick reply!!

John

Hi John

Bit slower this time

DH-100 series is £399.99 inc VAT & next working day delivery.

DH-200 series + 80GB DMP3-A is £499.99 inc VAT & next working day delivery.

FYI, the DH-100 can be used with Sanyo-compatible CD changers. Tricky to come by in the UK but we're working on it

Cheers

Lee.

Cheers Lee

£100 more for 80gb & CD seems a shame to pass up on.......

But on the other hand, as I said to you on the phone way back I'm not after a 'killer system' and I should think 20gb would be enough for me....Not having a CD player is no big deal really....lol, at least it means I would only be able to play my music and not let the girlfriend put on some of her terrible CDs - they would have to be 'approved' first and put on the HD by me

Plus, I presume, installation would be v. straight forward with the 100 series....

One final question (for now) - what would be my options (barring the Sanyo compatible changer) if say, for some reason, in 6 months time I found that in fact I did need more capacity?

Would I be stuck? Would it be a case of juggling what tracks I have on the PC and the HD? Would it be possible/financially viable to get another HD?

Cheers for all your help so far Lee - I could well be making a call on monday

John

In that case I think my mind is just about made up to go for the 100 series.

Cheers for your help and replies Lee....will probably give that number a call tomorrow lunchtime.

Regards,

John

Exclamation

Lee - YHM

Many thanks - received my goodies earlier today.

Unfortunately I have a problem in that MP3s are only coming through on the left hand channel - there is no sound at all on the right hand speakers. However, the radio plays fine through both.

lol, sorry to bombard you (as well as the message here and the email I have just sent you I have also left a message on your phone at the above number ) its just that I was trying to catch you before you left tonight!

Apart from that very impressed so far with the unit!

Many thanks,

John
