You'll have fun fitting the 6.5 polyglass due to the depth - if you want to go for those, try the 5" and check the depth before you buy!

I'm talking diameter wise really - I think Focal do a range of speakers that have shallow magnets etc so they will fit,, but its more of the diameter of speaker size .

The access 165s fit quite nicely using a 12mm mdf spacer.

So are the Polyglass ones deeper than the Access ones then?

Maybe better going for Access - i.e. simpler

check the focal website for the depths they do differ between the ranges. Polyglass v2 is a smidge deeper than the access range. but you will need spacers for both unless you buy the special shallow models.

Cool

I fitted the Focal Access line 165A's, and they fitted ok with some mdf (12mm I think). Very tight to the window when it's down, but they did go in ok. And the tweaters fit nicely where they should too.
Don't try mounting the crossovers in the door though, as they rattle !! (I was being lazy !!)

Kart Man

The Focal 165a's was these fitted in a classic or new age impreza ??. Did you reove the rubber boot off the magnet at the back of the speaker ??. Did you use just mdf or the original speaker mount as well ??.

cheers

Kart MAn,

If you want to get rid of rattles of crossover boxes - do what ive seen done many a time - wrap them in bubble wrap

It was a classic (UK wagon).

I didn't modify the speaker at all, just fitted it to the MDF and then the MDF to the door. From memory I had to make up some spacers for the top of the MDF though, to pull the top of the magnet further from the window when it was down. Can't remember exact spacing, but I'll take a look at the off cuts tonight if you like and let you know (I kept them in case I wanted to put the same speakers in my P1).

HTH,

Dave
