I'm thinking about upgrading the speakers in my MY99 - currently Caliber CSC5's which dropped straight in without a spacer.
I've listened to JL VR600Csi's and Focal 165K's, and to me they didn't sound worth shelling out an extra £300 for.
My home hifi is Dynaudio floorstanders - which I got on sale marked down to £550. Absolute clarity, fantastic emotion from the music.
Looking at Dynaudio's website they do a 240GT which looks like it should fit, although I take Steve's points that the crossover is huge and they will take a lot of driving.
Any ideas of the best place to buy, and if anyone discounts the Car Audio? The only dealer I can see in the South is in Chiswick, and the only price I've seen is £399

They're always expesive. Couldn't find anywhere except for the place in Chiswick myself either... Don't think I got the 240s though? Maybe it was... 7" jobbies which are a bit tricky to fit!

Talk to Clive Pluckrose (tell him Philly in Bournemouth recommended you ).
He's one of the good guys chum , got loads of Dyne in stock, and what he doesn't know or ain't done isn't worth bothering with.
Don't buy it all though buddy I'm hoping he's saving a 3-way set for me!
Might be tricky to get through on phone on SATURDAYS...he gets a bit busy and tends to prioritise his attention to shop customers.
By the way , I'm NOTHING to do with this organisation, just a lad who liked what he saw.
Do us a favour ... if you use my name ,don't go there and act the c**t.
Let me know how you get on.

Wentworth Car audio
Someonetell the number.. got it somewhere
£399 about right.. for 240's 6.5 inch.. got them running at about 170wrms at the moment (340wrms for the fronts!)
They can be fairly fragile though is abused
Yep much better than the Focals, which I also have in the Garage.. Someone lie AudioImages in Bradford do the Focals discounted but there are very few Dyn Audio dealers - as I remember the main distributor aget was a t*sser when I went through a few sets of Dyns...
Gone through so many diff. types of Speakers - Dyn are the best in a Scoob that I've heard by a long, long, long, long way....
Course you can go bigger - which should be better but thats a load of hassle.. My cars in bits at the moment with all my messing with audio gear!.. will refit dash and doors this weekend!

Thanks folks!
No discounts, but actually the UK price is a lot lower than the US retail price, and even below some discounted, non-franchised US dealers.
For most other speakers - Focals, JL the US price is way below UK, so this isn't rip-off britain for a change.
The 240 GT with the smaller steel basket looks much easier to fit than the 240 mark II - anyone tried these?

Did you try Clive? he offered me a GOOD deal on a 3-wayset.
as i understand ,the 240GT is better suited to a car environment because the stiffer suspension can cope with an un-sealed fitment usual to a standard in door type fitting.
