mounting depth.
Anyone know the mounting depth of the front speakers in a new shape interior (not new new but new dash board as opposed to my old dash board).
I am now removing my orion single point sixes as they dont fit properly in a a car that was intended to have fives. I was only wondering as these are great speakers and I would like to know if it is possible to sell them to an impreza person. They will be damn cheap when on sale.
Lee, Mike, Pat, Alex, anyone?

Assuming you can get the mounting pods onto the speakers, you've got 50mm. If you cut a bit out the back of the pods, you've got 65mm.
Note that this was the highly scientific "hold a ruler and prod it about a bit", and I've erred on the side of caution.
The mounting pod has a "cover" bit at the top to protect from rain ingress, so is recommended. There's a lip at the back that could be cut out to give a bit more depth, but the angle of the drivers and size of magnet may involve cutting a bit of plastic.
HTH,
Nick.

That doesnt seem like much Nick. Ah- I see you're still using the supplied pods.
on my MY99 I squeezed in 72mm CD-tech's. 4mm clearance to glass and touching the front panels !
pods have to go and a custom spacer will be required.
incidentally JL-Audio's VR/XR 6's are very slim !

Aha, yes, erm. I actually have an 18mm MDF spacer ring chucked on the front of that too for my 5" CD technologies driver... It's getting quite tight on the door panel, but it all fits and even at xmax the driver doesn't hit the door.
"I think they should fit" is the conclusion. How's that for a scientific answer
?
