Well, now I've got the headunit (Alpine 1003R) and 6 cd/mp3 (s634) sorted, thanks to everyone for help on wiring. I'm looking at speaker upgrades. First step rears (the easy fit!).

Plan to buy Focal/Infinity Co-Axial 5" or 6", what size are they in doors and do they need spacers?

I *think* they may only be 4" in the doors - please check before you do anything...

Well finally took the rear door panel off, the rear speakers are 4.5" wide and 2" deep (excluding the speaker surround). Is this the right way to measure or do you normally include the plastic surround and ditch that when you fit larger speakers?

Tboner, What size/spec were they? Did you connect straight to headunit or run via an amp.
