Question

Just bough a Sony CDX MP70 and I'm going to fit Focal fronts and rears. I like good quality sound but not too loud (Im an older type chap!) Is it worth fitting an amp and if so which one,(not too dear) and where do I fit it in my saloon?

Cheers.

Try it first is my advice. You might find you like what you've got, however I expect that you'll probably be thinking that you can improve the sound significantly by adding an amp - which you can

A small 2 channel will do the job, perhaps fitted under the passenger seat. I'd look at the Caliber range for VFM stuff.

I think you'll find focals respond btter when being driven, as thats the way they've been designed. A good 4 channel amp would sort you out nicely, give you plenty of headroom quality power with no hint of distortion (unless you really crank it up).

Have a look here if this is your cup of tea, this is powering my focal fronts at the moment.

Argiably, if you're shelling out what, 400 quid on focals, then its worth investing in a good amp to do them justice.

cheers

Yes I think you are right, but I don't want to spend that kind of money. I always said I would NEVER spend £1000 to put in a car, nearly there already!! I don't need kicking power just nice clear quality sound. I'll have a look on e-bay and see if I can pick something up. Thanks for your post.
