Question

Hi folks, I am thinking of replacing my standard Jap Scoob stereo with a Sony XRCA430X. See Here.
I need to know if there is anything else I need in order to fit this stereo to my car.
Any help greatly appreciated.

I drive an STi3 import. The current stereo is the box shaped unit with Single CD, tape and Radio.
Thanks.

Sorry you're having no luck getting an answer here - someone must know?

Worst comes to the worst, you could fit a DIN pocket which should take up the space... Or fit a UK spec centre console, but that involves a lot of messing around.

I seem to recall someone putting something from a volvo (?) into the dash? Try a search, and good luck.

Come on folks, someone's done this!

Thanks chiark,
I'm not overly concerned about the physical fitting of the stereo, more the actual connections needed. Basically I have one group of wires, that are all wired to a connection block that clips straight into the back of my standard stereo. If this connection does not fit into a new stereo then I am totally lost.
Thanks again for any help.

What's the connector look like? If it's white and "wide" then it'll be the subaru connector and you need a loom adaptor from Autoleads. If there's two connectors on it that look like an ISO connector (2 rows of connectors, clip on the side) then you're OK to fit straight away.

If you've got a camera, a picture might help?
Cheers,
Nick.

Here's a pic of the Autoleads adapter I bought for my MY99.

And the Subaru->ISO connector ready for the HU. The OEM Subaru connector is the large white one with the grey foam around it.

Have a look here for the pinouts of the 95-00 Impreza.

ozzy, chiark, thanks again.
Right, I have been out to the car doing some damage with my Nokia 7650 and have the following:

The Connector that fits into the back of my current stereo. Looks like the white one in ozzys pic.

I also have the arial connector

I assume I buy the Autoleads part and all will be well

Looks about right mate. as my my00 came with one already fitted, I couldn't tell you, but it looks right...

When you order, get autoleads to confirm.

Just a quick note to thank Chiark and Ozzy.
I got the same lead as shown in ozzys post and it fits fine, £12 from Autoleads. All I need now is to get my hands on a new stereo.
