Default Fitting pioneer head unit

Hi - have bought a new car play headunit. Was going to fit the green cable to the power side of the hand brake switch but the guys in halfords told me just to connect it to earth - will that work as am being told different things?

If it's the safety wire that disables it whilst driving yes it will work.

Depending on whether it is a newer unit.

I had to have a switch that could cycle on and off. Just grounding it did not work on my unit. The settings icon was disabled.

I purchased the 230dab by mistake and only realised once fitting. (I prefer CD holes)
I connected the handbrake cable to one of the screw holes that screws it in and it hasn't stopped me using any function while driving.
I cant wait to rip it out and get a cheap chinese thing that will play netflix.
Only had it since april

if you connect your HDMI and lightning cables to an Apple av adaptor then connect that to your iphone it will then be mirrored on your CarPlay screen. You can then play Netflix on your phone and it will pop up on your car screen.
