Securing Auto Acoustics Stealth Box
#1
Bought one of these a couple of weeks ago. However, it keeps flying away from the side of the boot, pulling the floor carpet with it. The velcro on the back of the box doesn't really seem to be holding onto the carpeting on the side of the boot at all.
Has anyone else had this problem and how did you cure it (pics would be nice if possible!).
Cheers
Dave

Dave,
You need to secure it well! My box is screwed into the metal behind the seats. What you could do is attach bolt and use a wing-nut to secure it...
Another way to do it is to put a big lump of mdf under the carpet, and screw your box into that. It doesn't move then.
Nick.

I've yet to build a box for the boot, and thought about this box. how much did it cost? on the right hand side (assuming its the same as the one i've seen) look behind the carpet on the side of the car and there should be a few mouting points that you could use to secure the box to. I'm not suprised that the velcro doesn't hold it in place, securing a lump of wood with a bit of fabric never sounded the most secure to me.

Yep agreed with Homer there thats a good way of doing it.
Or get a massive roll of heavy duty velcro from Halfords, I've done this and mine doesnt move at all now, I'm only down the road from Crawley if you want to meet up and have a peek

Cheers for the replies. The box was £150 incl VAT - expensive, but I liked the idea that it was a very neat fit in the offside corner of the boot, and that it didn't eat into the boot space too badly.
I saw Andy Tang's fitted, and thought his was fixed only with the standard velcro - but was clearly wrong as you rightly point out that a few small strips of velcro are hardly going to hold a heavy box (plus heavy sub) in place during enthusiastic driving.
TBMeech - can I take you up on that offer - I'd rather not drill any holes or cannibalise anything on the car or box unless I absolutely have to - email me per my profile and perhaps I can arrange to pop over sometime.

Another thought.
Cut a two small hole in the trim around the pillar that's on the right hand side of the boot. There's a support piller that the trim attaches to, and this could be used to secure around...
Have a bit of seatbelt material go through the slits, round the box and around the post.
Should stop it moving.
