Hi, I was wanting to use some soundproofing in the boot of my Type R to reduce road and exhaust noise in the cabin. Whats the best thing to use for this....Has anyone removed the back seats and put a layer of soundproofing behind them???
Our local Car Audio store claim that there isnt much in the way of sound deadening products....
Can Anyone help me out.....

Thumbs up

I've just done the front doors in my STi7, to help the new speakers, the common products in the UK are Dynamat and Brown Bread (not the edible kind) i bought 2 rolls of Brown Bread costing £15 each this was more than enough for both front doors. If you are stuck for products drop me a line and i will help if possible.

Wink

It is very dense material, but considering the overall weight when added to the car it will be neglible.

There are different materials for the different noises.

Barrier Mat prevents the road noise from entering via the metal under the spare wheel and wheel arches. As it moulds to shape it will act as a blocker of noise and stop vibrations in the metal. It helps to improve ICE sounds as well as block road and exhaust noise.

Spacelayer is used under the rear seats and under the boot carpet. This is class "O" foam sandwiched inside two damping sheets. This material will dampen the metal vibrations and the foam will absorb the noise created in the atmosphere such as exhaust road and engine noises.
