PRODRIVE REAR DIFF GUARD

PRICES UPDATED ON PAGE 2 - GROUP BUY ENDS END OF OCTOBER.

I've been thinking about getting one of these for a while but have always been put off by the dealer price (£160.00). When they come up on ebay (which is quite rare) they make similar money.........so much for bargains!!!

With this in mind I've decided to see whether I can get some form of group buy reduction. I'll be trying a few of the dealers next week and will also make contact with a few alternative suppliers to see what type of deal we can get.

Before I go any further can you please confirm your interest to see whether its worthwhile phoning round. Get your other halves to buy you something you want for Xmas this year!!!!

Ok this clearly looks like it could be a "goer" depending on the price for some people.

I have contacted a few suppliers already and will try a few more tomorrow. Yet to have a response on prices with a few wanting to number crunch before they commit. Will let you know how I get on.

Ok three main dealers have come back to me and each have confirmed that Prodrive are pretty short on stock but they should still be able to do something for us.

The best price that I have got so far is £115.00 plus vat (retail at £136.00 plus vat) on quantities of 10. The guy did say that he may be able to do a bit more discount once numbers have been confirmed.............

I'm waiting for a few independents to come back to me and have also made contact with a supplier in the US. Given the exchange rate they come in at a reasonable price and if we can get them shipped in bulk I'd be confident of a "bargain". Problem then is forwarding from one UK address but I'll deal with this if the price is attractive.

Looks like these are only going to be available for Newage cars btw according to Subaru UK.........................

I will keep you informed of progress.

Well not such a good response from the suppliers so far.........

Here's where I'm at

Retail price is £136.17 (excluding vat)

Robinsons - 10% discount
Stan Palmers - 10% discount
Cheam - 10% discount
KT Greens - 17.5% discount
Subaru UK - yet to respond
Revolution - yet to respond
RCM - no discount available

The dealers universally agree that it will be difficult to get a decent discount given the cost price of the item to them. Likewise the "specialists" have said they would only source the part from their local dealer anyway so I guess the mark up would be minimal and discount practically non existent.

KT Greens in fairness appear to be the only ones willing to work with me. Glynn has said he would be able to do them for £115.00 plus vat but would need firm quantities of 10 (thats either 10 sti fitments or 10 wrx fitments - no part quantities of either to make up the 10 if that makes sense) before he would order them in. They cant afford to be with a part that they dont usually stock....He did add that if we got the 10 he might be able to bring the price down a little more.

I have emailed Rally Sport Direct over in the USA. They did a similar group buy some time ago for the NSIOC and they sell them at $151.00. I'm not too sure whether they would be willing to ship to me in bulk but its worth a punt. Hopefully they will quote me with shipping and all asscoiated charges etc.

Assuming the US supplier is a non starter I think its unlikely that I'll beat the KT Green deal.

I dont know what peoples thoughts are so please have a think and let me know. If there is still some interest I'll approach KT's about delivery prices etc
