*****UPDATE*****
Ok I think its time to get things moving.
The US supplier has come back to me and offered the diff guards at a favourable price. We obviously have to bear in mind the costs of shipping and the Customs Tariffs but I suspect this would still work out to be a good deal.
On todays exchange rates we can have them as follows:
1 - 15 guards - £88.00
15 + guards - £80.00
Shipping (although subject to minor change) would work out at approximately £100.00 so this can be divided equally between us and would only be in the region of £7.00 each if we can get the numbers. Please dont forget you will need to factor in the cost of you covering the cost of postage from my address to yours.
If anyone has any past experience of Customs Tariffs can you please advise.
I need to confirm numbers to get a firm price. I will therefore close the group buy off at 30.10.06. Payment will be required up front before I place the order as they will only accept a bank wire transfer.
Please only put your name down if you are happy to go ahead. I know the costings are up in the air slightly but if we get 16 I'm confident I can get these shipped to your door for less than £100.00 (subject to Customs charges).
GB WILL CLOSE 30TH OCTOBER 2006

what about producing it? Can't be really expensive I think.. if you can live without the "prodrive"
would be an easy piece of alu or steel.. should be no problem for some factory workers i think

Well guys this is looking like a bit of a non starter all round. The reductions available are barely worth the work to be honest and trust me I've done my very best.
The US supplier can supply them @ $159.00 each but shipping is then an additional $70.00 on top to your address. Factor in the VAT and import duty coupled with the three week wait there's no real point with going down this route.
Best UK deal is KT Greens @ 115.00 plus vat. Fair enough its a saving but not a massive one.
Stan Palmers will offer 17.5% on two or more guards so if there are only a couple of people interested it gives you a chance to save a few pennies.
I personally think I'm going to get my Aunty to get me one from the States and send me it over as a Xmas gift.
Apologies for letting anyone down on this. I did think we'd be able to get a good deal given the interest but it seems Prodrive have even priced the dealers out of offering decent reductions.

Hope you get sorted Mark. KT Greens have been very good to me in the past and are my local main dealer. Stan Palmers offered 17.5% discount on two or more guards so they might be of interest to you as well.
Just so you know what I've been up against here's an email from the rather friendly Cheam Dealership with my accompanying response. I cant beleive the attitude of some people. Fair trade? Don't make me laugh!!

My rather tame response...............
Come on Jim this is surely a joke................
The whole nature of a group buy is to secure the best deal available and
that unfortunately means contacting more than one supplier.
I telephoned two dealers on the same day both of which I have had favourable dealings with in the past. They immediately came back to me with prices. You were recommended by one of your regular customers and I was asked to "give you a go". Against my wishes (which appear to now be justified) I emailed you via your own web link as requested. It might have been better for us both if the correspondence had remained in your Spam....................
Now if you all came back with the same price I'd accept that your gripe had
some credibility. Fact is you have all supplied varying percentages of discounts which as we all know dealing with Subaru comes as no surprise. Your prices for servicing differs from franchise to franchise so why should a diff guard be any different?
I'm sorry if I have offended or caused you any inconvenience as this was
not intended. Clearly you have taken issue which in my eyes is not warranted.
I'm not a commercial entity looking to make profit. I'm a member of a community of like minded enthusiasts who I tried to help out. I will pass on your dismissive comments though.................
I'm sure Subaru UK will recover from being "cheesed off". I should perhaps
introduce them to a close friend who has had nothing but trouble with his
recent £30k purchase. Perhaps they (and you) would understand the true meaning of the word.
Best regards
Rob
