Smile single piston to 2 pot caliper brackets

Right after the first Group buy for these I have had quite a lot of interest in more.

I need 6 people to make it worthwhile doing a run, but I'm sure if we get more it won't be a problem

These brackets allow you to fit the New age (MY01>) WRX 2 pot rear calipers and discs to any Impreza/Legacy currently fitted with single piston sliding calipers.
All you need are the Calipers, discs and pad from a MY01-05 WRX (Not STI or Classic JDMs as the discs are different) and this bracket kit.

The kit will contain a pair of brackets and mounting bolts.
No special tools are needed to fit so no drilling or tapping of threads. They are a direct bolt on!!
Fitting instructions with pics here: http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?t=428646

I ran the calipers on my car at Scooby shoot out and they have had some hard use in the 4k miles since and they still look as good as the day I fitted them
You will be impressed with the quality of the machining and when anodised look very professional. Anyone who knows me knows I'm a bit of a perfectionist, but the finish of these blew me away

The brackets can be anodised at extra cost (recommended).
Hard anodised grey (sort of anthracite colour) = £10 per pair
Red or Blue = £20 per pair

This is the simplest way to upgrade your rear brakes to 2 pots
The bracket kit works out at £140 including postage.

Get in before the rush
Iain.

Question I know I'm dull but...................................

Hello Ian
So apart from the bracket from yourself, I would then need to buy the two pot calipers ?
Would all this then go on my Godspeed 300mm discs ?
Lastly how much are rear calipers new, if you can't find a second hand set?

Whens the next meet by the way, I'm re mapped and ready to rumble

Kev.

Kev,
I take it the 300mm disc uses the original single piston sliding caliper?
The brackets will not fit your discs as they are designed to fit with the 290mm rear disc from the new age WRX.

If you can't get a set from a New age car. I have been reliably informed the calipers from the new age car are the same as the ones on the STI/Type R and late UK cars. So finding calipers shouldn't be too hard, then buy some WRX sized discs.
No idea what they are new sorry.

No, you get two brackets and some bolts.

In addition you're also paying for the R&D time Iain and his fabricator put into making sure the brackets fit perfectly, his time and trouble in actually being bothered to make them available to the community instead of just for himself, and doubtless lots of other hidden costs as well.

No, that bracket is mine before it went for anodising after final fit

But you can have a pair of brackets just like it (with bolts and postage) for £140

The R&D was mostly done for free as the machinist is a mate of mine. My time and trouble fitting and adjusting the design I also gave for free.
The only costs are for the material and the machine work. Rob unfortunatly is not self employed or I would have the only set in the UK
Postage and bolts are only a few quid on top.

Cool

If anyone is interested in this group buy.

I've just picked up a spare pair of 2 pot calipers of a 2003 WRX. They are in great condition and have a huge amount left on the pads. I have however taken the discs for my own use but have another pair of discs which will work with the calipers but have got 190mm internals for the handbrake. These would be ideal if you are considering doing a conversion.
I'm open to sensible offers just PM me.

Put me down for a set of brackets in grey anodised finish. The subaru part number for 2001 WRX brake discs is 26700AE030, 170mm drum diameter, 290mm disc diameter and vented.

I bought some brackets fro Dyney ages ago and have only just got them fitted today. Its was an absolute breeze to be honest. The instructions on the other thread are spot on.

Big thanks to the following:

Dyney for the brackets

Ian Godney for the discs

ASperformance for the pads

rallycol for the callipers.

Here are some pics

Done about 300 miles now with the new rears fitted and cant believe the difference.

I have the godspeed 335mm grooved fronts with 1144 pads and have always had problems with the front end diving quite badly due to lack of braking at the rear. Well, not no more I dont!!

It brakes extremely flat and has no major upsets when easeing off the brakes into corners and feels a lot more balanced than before.

Well worth the money and effort in my opinion.
