Mate i dont like being called a liar, here is the email from scott from flat4online, not that i have to prove anything.

From : <orders@flat4online.co.uk>Sent : 20 July 2005 12:45:44To : <carleveall@hotmail.com>Subject : RE: Question for item #4563141489 - Front Mount Intercoooler FMIC Subaru Impreza 92-00|||InboxHi

I could do 10 intercoolers for 370 including each delivery and 20 intercoolers 340 each including delivery

I don’t have 10 in stock but they are freely available at my suppliers, shipping time is 2-3 days to me maximum.

Would prefer Paypal if the group buy goes ahead but could also accept cheques and most major credit cards.

Best regards

Scott

He's not accusing you of lying. I think you'll find that Sticky Micky is saying it's not a good price, because the same thing is on ebay for much less.

sorry to butt in but im keeping an eye on these aswell. Just wandered if anyone could enlighten me as to why there is such a vast difference in cost of fmic's. Lateral's will set you back 1500 pace 1200 aps 1000 etc. Whats the difference? Why pay all that money when you can get one for a few hundred quid?onder2:

Marks kit can only be described as SHEER QUALITY! comes complete with Alloy Radiator and fans (AFAIK?), need no cutting of the bumper and requires the Inlet to be turned round. Only downside is that Aircon cannot be fitted with this kit due to I/C output fitting location

Pace one comes with Fans as well, needs no cutting of the bumper but hasn't really performed as the price tag would suggest!

APS is Good Quality and most of its cost was bought out by the large amount of R&D to make it as good as it is. Need serious cutting of the bumper. I had one on my old MY97 (360bhp in 2003 when this way major (ish!) power).

Hybrid is just a copy of another type of FMIC but has great ratings amongst its users (BHP Developments is building a 450bhp Pulsar using this and its never got above 5 degrees over ambient even at that power!) .

If you have the money and are looking for serious power, go for Laterals Kit! I highly recommend it!

If your on a budget (as most are!) try out the Hybrid kit or one of the Ebay ones!

Russell

ps - I have fitted about 5 FMIC's of varying types to Scoobs in and around Aberdeen and have loads of advice (and cheap labour costs) for anyone needing a professionally fitted FMIC to their Scoob in Aberdeen. Just ask any of my customers to testify to my high standards of perfection. That will say more that I'll ever have to

Sorry Russell, but it can be used without turning round the inlet manifold and even though the car in this pic hasn't got aircon, the pipework takes a similar route as the Hyperflow?

The kit is more expensive cause it includes a replacement alloy radiator and two fans as well. Quality, as Russell says is first class and has so far been very reliable in my install.

I have some contact details for what was Officially Pimped in Warrington. E-mail me if required.
Several people had mega problems and non supply of goods, after taking the money is a CID matter to me when no refund has been made. Obtaining by deception.
Take care. There are some cheap copies about, inferior cores, poorly fitting/non fitting and polished mild steel hard pipe kits. These obviously rust outside and lookhideous but the rust is on the inside too and rust going through an engine and turbo is a bad thing.

Well said Harvey.

Wuz ive got some Marks kit and not reversed inlet.

Had 5 FMICs now (including the £225) one. THis included the cheap one, Lateral one, Blitz, Greddy and HKS. I prefered the HKS out of them all.

Havent tried Hybrid but heard good reviews back from everyone

After fitting several different types of these cheap so called "quality Intercoolers" there is only two I'd use on an impreza, the Lateral FMIC kit for a classic and the APS unti for a new age car. The likes of the Ebay specials, hybrid etc are all cheap for a reason and certainly relect that either in how they fit or the quality of the item.

Remember the old saying???

You get what you pay for!

its always a risk you have to take on ebay im afraid, this bloke has good feedback, non of it is for FMIC tho, i belive he has just started doing these as a test, this is because it seams like he normally does much cheaper stuff

anyway, im in a position where i can afford to lose £225, so i took the risk

Nothing wrong with the fit of the Hybrid if you know what you are doing. Ask anybody that has had a fitment from me if it is neat and tidy. BTW, I assume that you are aware that the install you did for Julian had to be redone.

Take a look here:

http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?t=456372

Finished fitting mine and yes there's a bit of angle grinding and bumper cutting but not that much. For £225 delivered i'm not gonna complain

I have recieved my Hybrid in 2 days from Hong Kong. No duty charged.

Be aware that there are 2 versions - 'bar and plate' - basic version and 'GTi spec' which is the high flow version.

I got a 'second' (couple of very tiny marks on the fins - easy fixed with a toothpick) GTi version for £180 + £40 delivered via eBay. Quality is very good.

Mine should be with me soon,

Nothing wrong with the bar and plate older style intercooler. These were going for around the £500 mark 18months ago and people appear to of had good results with them. I'm sure harvey will confirm this.

MR ebay offered me the second's GT spec one aswell after winning the bid also offered another scoobynetter the same offer. I declined his offer though, would rather have perfect older style than a damaged new one.

Have to say, the price is still blinding for a Hybrid Monster intercooler

When he says damaged or second he is being incredibly pedantic. I had about 3 tiny dents on the fins. Couldnt even notice them without looking for them, but took all of a minute to make them like new with a toothpick and a pair of fine snipe nose pliers.

Gas flow difference on the GTI spec is up to +40% so its worth the extra cost imo.
