Thumbs up Exedy Uprated Organic Clutch GROUPBY

Subaru's seem to suffer from a serious clutch issue, mainly judder ness! The judder ness often causes the ride to become uncomfortable and annoys the hell out of you..well does me any how..

I have been thinking of getting my clutch changed for sometime now, however can not afford to like many other Scooby members....
....so I thought we could all benefit from a groupby..

GroupBy Item:
Exedy Uprated Organic Clutch priced at £250 + vat each.

A Minimum of 5 people are required to participate in this groupby, and is split into 2 groups. When each group has the min number the order can be placed for that group. Collectively we can save over £800 with this purchase.

Additional Options:
Labour for fitting the clutch if required by API can be done cost at £200 + vat per car, once a definitive list exists you can book yourself in for the work to be carried out.

Lightened Flywheel:
£120+ vat each, for a volume buy

The supplier for the Parts and Labour is API, website address: http://www.apiengines.com

I will update this post with intrest and current upto date price's:

Groupby is split into two groups:

Group 1

1. SamUk (Clutch + Flywheel + Work)
2. ZippyEFC (Clutch)
3. Danny Boy(clutch only)
4. Jake (Clutch)

Forgive me for being bold Sam, but don't AP's organic clutch retail for about £380, if you could organise a group buy on this (say £300), you might get more enthusiasm, as I'd guess that AP's are more sought after and have been used by members on here with cars running BIG bhp and Torque.

All the best

Agree...AP is a more of a bigger name...my car was fitted with a AP Organic clutch just before i bought the car..only been 9 months and already needs replacing... (driven sensebly and only launched afew times)

So after some research, i decided to go for an Excedy after hearing lots of reviews from other member + the level of service provided from API...

The Exedy organic that we sell is highly respected and we have it running around in 400 / 420 hp high torque cars with no problems at all.

Remember that the AP Organic is just an Exedy fiddled about with by AP - look at the logo on the cover AND that the AP does not include the release bearing and the Exedy from me does.......

AP is sought after because until we started selling the Exedy at a competitive price there was no known, viable, alternative.

AND we've never yet had a warranty complaint - for ANY reason.

It's amazes me how many people don't realise that Exedy hold the patent for the pull type mechanism on the pressure plate - and they are just modified by others, such as AP

Would this clutch work with a 6speed box as well?
I'm pretty sure the answer is yes, but there is a difference in diameter between the 5MT and 6MT clutch and flywheel isn't there?

Question

Very interested, just a question regarding the flywheel, what is the weight of it, and is it new?? Or can the existing one be skimmed if so how much would that cost??

I'm guessing no compatiblity issues with an STI V5??

cheers

no issues with a V5 as I run one on my my99.
hasnt given me any bother at all in 12k miles at 300+ bhp, which I guess is all you can ask for when buying a clutch.

Im also guessing that the lightened flywheel is a skimmed/lightened/machined OE unit that would be in the region of 9 - 11 kgs to fit.

this makes for a speedier response when going for it as there is less inertia with a reduced mass

Will not fit a bugeye...to get the price's API has to buy the clutches in bulk and have to be the same....

This group buy is aimed for the Classic Scoobies only...
The cost is higer for the newer shape, as there is no bulk buy...

Otherwise £670 all in for classic's

Yes it will go on a UK 5 speed bugeye. Same prices as Sam quotes above.

Not sure about 2002 on 5 speeds as we haven't seen one yet for a clutch repair [ still under warranty with IM mostyly ]

However it does work on a 6 speed conversion into a classic car. The flywheel on a 6 speed car is different to all 5 speed flywheels. BUT, in my opinion you can put a classic flywheel and clutch on a 6 speed car and it will work.

Confused?? how do you think us poor suppliers feel ??

The average weight of an APi skimmed and lightened OEM flywheel is 8 Kg the OEM start at 11.5 on our weight checking from time to time.

That help ??

Good Luck all David APi Engines / APi Impreza

so I can have both the clutch and flywheel at the same prices as listed above? I have the 2001 bugeye (one of the first UK official models to land) I'm just a bit weary of ripping the clutch to shreds sometime soon with all that power
