Question gauging interest for potential GruppeS headers (v2)! GB!

would like to know if anyone is interested in a GB..

Price for the V2 manifold + up-pipe:
http://www.gruppe-s.com/Subaru/subeng.htm

$599
USD shipped via EMS (~1 week delivery time approx) +duty and VAT when it lands in the UK.

www.xe.com - (currency converter)

With current exchange rate being very good, thought it might be time to take advantage.. works out @ £376 with VAT but no duty.. how much might duty be?)

no doubt gruppeS can do a deal for a few sets

just to add: these (V2) have slightly re-designed flanges and do NOT leak at all
unlike the V1 batch..

the shipping is $100 afaik, but maybe GS can do a deal ont he shippping?
The headers and up-pipe are actually only £260 equivalent!
its the shipping and VAT that stings... but even so..
quite a bargain for a LOT of performance gain

got it..
the low down 'cost' of the larger bore GS up-pipe is more than compensated for by the increased midrange torque gains as far as I understand.. sure one of the big power lads using these could comment and clarify..

The OE header's/up-pipe 'powerband' as I understand is much lower down the rev range- thereby running out of puff compared to aftermarket headers/Up-pipe at the mid- upper ranges IIRC.
(altho rigoli may argue the point )

nope thats why i want these - u keep the burble unequal length headers for ya!
i have equal length currently and after a zorst change to HKS hiper I miss the burble..
never really noticed before with a magnex..

best gains from remap tied into other mods, and gains vary wildly depending on other supporting mods

what spec you running?
how far have u gone?

All aftermarket headers are a shed load better than OE tho!! LOL
the headers fit both classics and new shape/s

I have got a set of these and all I can is they are superb, still sounds like a Scooby until high rpm then they sound more like a big bike I have got an HKS hyper TI tip system.

I have got version 2 with the Helix flexi up pipe and have no issues with leaking gaskets. Build quality is unreal, a complete work of art it's a shame to fit them.

I paid extra for the "jet hot coating" which is a bargain, as cheap as buying exhaust wrap but without the hassel and smells of exhaust wrap. I have only done about a 1000 miles but the coating looks as good as the day I fitted the headers.

This is why I stay out of the GB forum - there's just too much to tempt me to part with the hard earned!

Would we be able to order the manifold with the "jet hot coating" applied and get the up pipe as well?

What sort of payment methods will be accepted?

Thanks

Cool

Cheers colin!
'jet coat' is another $150 ..
they are out of stock of jet coated manifold's (3-4week lead time!)
they DONT advise jet coating the up-pipe as its a flexi type.. and the JetCoating would cause damage to the 'flex' leading to leaks.

Jimmy-
AFAIK, all international orders need to be paid by credit card only.
btw- Max @ gruppeS actually suggested that exhaust wrap does a better job on these than the jet coat after I 'grilled' him about it... see what I did there?

So are you in mate??

still waiting for MAx to get back to me regarding GB
not sure what timezone they are in.. so likely to not get a reply until monday now..

if you do get a problem with them leaking im currently taking to an exhaust manufacturer on making a good uppipe that will solve all the leaking problems with these headers but it will not be sorted for a few weeks

jumping the gun a bit aren't ya Steve?!
its just that i bought the 1st header that groupe s ever did and ive had a few probs so to solve my problem ive went to a local company to solve it for me which when fixed could then help out the few others who are in the same position as me £ for £ these headers are still a bargain no matter how many problems may occur on mine

Cool

ok spoke to Max.
we need at least 10 people for a good discount
... 4 down.. 6 to go
Steve: yeah I remember mate that's why I sold my V1 headers after hearing of the problems..
apparently the V2 solves ALL of these problems out of the box according to Pavlo

Count me in ..... I already made enquiries and was satisfied with $899 (+tax) manifold/uppipe/downpipe delivered to my door, so any off that is even better!

I want the manifold/uppipe/downpipe ... I'd also like enough wrap to cover the manifold & downpipe for a proper job! Anyone else for wrap?

I would recommend we get our OWN wrap seperate to the GB.. it just complicates things.. rally design or demon tweaks do it at resonable cost...

I'll have a manifold + the uppipe, please.

Not sure I want a 'upipe' as I have no plans to modify my toilet at the moment!.

when everyone knows exactly what they want, I can go to Max and broker a deal then GB pricing will become clearer and I will post the details here or PM if you wish.

Might be worth ordering a set of gaskets aswell from Gruppe-s because they are cheaper than from a UK Subaru dealer and you don't get the dreaded question " is it an import "

Just to clarify on the wrap, i would order 2 50m rolls of 2inch wrap.

Chrome, whilst you are communicating with him, ask him if he can supply bungs for all the bosses on the manifold and up pipe, that way it saves you the hassle of finding a bung.

From memory the manifold has 1, and the up pipe has 1.

There must be a considerable weight reduction in fitting these headers replacing the cast iron OE ones, which surely adds to staightline speed (besides the BHP increase) and also reduces nose-heavy weight & improving handling to some degree? The stock CI headers look blummin massive to me though I have a sump plate so can't see too well.

It only springs to mind because I replaced the cast iron manifold & downpipe on a CRX vtec I had previous to the scooby & noted how blummin heavy the stock item was!

I will ask about the bungs..

Will find out about duty.. seems a bit arbitrary on how they set the duty tariffs..

xbox- yup. would have thought so.. the OE headers are cast, and yup weigh a ton.. you up for some headers?

I really do like the look of the headers with up-pipe, but I dunno if it's more suited to big power cars. Mine is a MY95 wrx Type RA (dunno what turbo) 260bhp before mods I think, decat 2.5" to 3" fujitsubo system, STi Panel airfilter from groupbuy and have a 2nd hand apexi power fc ECU yet to plug in which will be mapped by AndyF prolly soon. I want to run 1.1 bar but I dunno if the ECU will do that when I goto AndyF? Do I need summat else? I forgot to ask. I've only had the car 6 weeks so new to all this & already spent a bomb! lol

260+20(decat)?+20(ecu)&1.1bar=300bhp ish? what would the headers do for this??

thanks
neil
