Default Various Avon tyres - road and track

Was chatting to a guy i met recently through a friend and it turns out he is a manager at the Avon tyre factory just down the road. Upshot is that i asked about group buys on tyres and said i'd gauge the interest on here.

No idea on prices yet but if i can give him an idea of numbers (or mail him a link to this thread) then Phil will see what he can do for us.

tyres available are as follows:-

AVON ZZ3 16" -> 18"

AVON ZV3 15" -> 18"

TECH R's 14" -> 17"

COOPER MASTERCRAFTS ?

I know not everyone (including me) on this board has been the biggest fan of Avon's products in the past, but Phil reassures me that any "quirky" characteristics their tyres may have had are no longer an issue,and a bargain's a bargain, eh?

Roy.

Can you quote for 4 x 205/50/16 for ZZ3 and ZV3

What is the difference between the 2 tyres?

Thanks

Roy,

Could be interested, again subject to cost. Would be looking for 2 min, poss 4 205 50 16 - either ZV3 or ZZ3.

I have been running ZV1's on a Golf GTi MkII for about 9 months now and I have no complaints. They are super quiet, give excellent steering feel and very good grip wet or dry.

Cheers,

Andy

Hi mate,

Not sure that these will be suitable for a P1 pushing out 400+ (must be by now eh? ) it transpires that this chap Phil is Elliots boss! he's already wound him up once for me.

Will chase up for some prices in the morning.

Hi everybody,

Sorry for the pause in proceedings, lot of house stuff going on ATM. After talking to my "contact" at the weekend it seems that Cooper-Avon "don't do" group buys anymore. Apologies to all, but this was not what i was led to believe and am as disappointed as you might be.

However, after moaning in the pub about letting you guys down and looking a bit of an ****, it transpires that another friend has a relative who manages a garage for one of the large tyre chains. She has promised to get in touch with him to contact me to see if we can sort something out.

This should hopefully mean that we won't be limited to one brand of tyre and when the guy has been in touch i will start a new thread with further details linking to this one.

Apologies again,

Roy.
