Default group buy - sti panel filter - payments DIRECT to Scoobymania

Following on from interest in another thread about the Sti Panel Filter, i have phoned Scoobymania to discuss a group buy.

Normal price is £47 + VAT + Delivery.

The filter in question is here

I have been informed it wil fit all MY from 93 to current.

The group buy price will depend on how many people want one, ie 10, 20 etc.

So, in order to give me an idea how many peeps we've got, please register your interest below, copy and paste list as you go.

Prices to follow shortly.

chris

Sti Panel Filter

1. CHRIS_D

Copied from page 4:

Just got off the phone to Lee at Scoobymania

Normal Price = £47 + VAT + £5 delivery = £61

I've confirmed that 20 + filters will give us a 10% discount, 30 + filters and i need to ring again for a further possible discount.

Therefore 20+ filters = £55 inc VAT & delivery

They currently have 10 in stock and have just ordered another 25 (couple of days to arrive).

Payment -

If you still want one please confirm by e-mailing me at: christopher.davidson1@ntlworld.com under the subject STi Group Buy

In order to make it go smoothly i'll need the following details:

SN Username
Real Name
Shipping address
Contact Telephone No

Once i have confirmed numbers (see end date below) and e-mailed scoobymania the complete 'group buy list' (with all your shipping details etc) you can phone scoobymaia and make the payment yourself. They will tick you off the list once your purchase has been made.

This way credit card details are kept to yourself.

Answers to questions raised:

1. Part No: ST165464S000

2. This is a Genuine Sti part, Not fitted to any car as Std.

3. Ease of fitment - Direct swop, 60 sec job.

4. Lifespan/cleaning - Non Washable & replaced as per normal service intervals (check yer manual).

5. Performance gains - Approx 5 bhp.

6. MAF issues - non known.

Any other Q's please ask scoobymania.

tel: 0115 970 8555

I will update this this thread as people confirm they're in

I'll set a Group Buy end date of 0800 hrs Mon 15th Mar. once youve paid hopefully they'll have em deliverd next day, obviously subject to stock.

Chris (still having one )

julian

i dont know mate, thats why i asked in the other thread. someone mentioned doing a group buy, so here we are.

I would have thought that it is different somehow. i have an Sti5 and it has a std panel filter so i imagine this is what the subaru dealer has quoted you.

Bob Rawle had a std Sti9 and he has upgraded to this filter.

I'm sure someone else will post a more informative answer soon enough

i heard bob rawl talking about it at the rr day, but i'm not sure if he was on about the scoobymainia one or a genuine subaru one.

makes you think though if they are both the same thing, why such a big price difference...................

Just a thought, but phil stephens has just bought one. he has a UK STi8/9 whatever.

Why would he replace a new Std Sti filter for this one ??

I'm not trying to sell the filter and i have no association with scoobymania, just curious like yourself mate and if it is better i'll have one

If the Subaru dealer said that their STi filter didn't have writing on, and the Scoobymania ones have, - they must be different filters. My guess (and it is a guess) is that these are aftermarket imported filters.

There are still a few threads in the Drivetrain forum regarding replacement filters and the STi gets some very favourable reports. I have assumed they were refering to the Scoobymania one which is why i'm interested in the group buy.

I suppose only Scoobymania have the answer.

DJ.

The filters in question I believe are the paper panel filters used on the Jap spec STi’s NOT the type UKs. ie.. TypeUK 265BHP... Jap STi 280BHP.... ???

‘Marklemac’ has spoken to me about these and they are supposed to be good.

The dealer will be quoting for a std paper filter to go on the STI/WRX etc... and the STI filter will be an uprated one.

Hi I had my STI filter fitted by Bob Rawle, I got it from Scoobymania and the Subaru part number on the side was the same as the part number on the side of the box off Bob Rawles own STI filter, although the sticker was a different colour, that's why he checked the part number before fitting it!

So yes it appears to be a genuine Subaru item,

Cal

As said above I beleive the car comes with a standard STi Paper filter this is an uprated one along the lines of the ITG

The STI filter is a paper one, but it also has a metal mesh, Bob R said that some cheaper filters actually squash into the shape of the airbox under high bost, but the STI is very well made and filters properly but with an excellent air flow and no gunge to leak off like some oiled filters/induction kits so no MAF issues,

after asking on the 22b site i've found out that the scoobymainia and bob rawl air filters are GpN sti air filters and not standard ones so i think i'll have one if the price is right.

it would be intresting to know the part number then ask the subaru maindealer for a price to see wot they come up with to compare.

The ones advertised on Scoobymania are "enhanced" aftermarket filters. They differ from the standard STI filter in having wire mesh support and STI logo on it. I got mine from www.japanparts.com. Considering the shipping and import duty I had to pay, then the Scoobymania price is not too shabby.
