Default Water pipe that leads nowhere? Has a rubber stopper on (which perished)

Identification please

What's this pipe for? It was leaking through a perished rubber stopper, it sits on a pipe protruding from near the dipstick to the right of the alternator, here are some photos:.

Had to borrow one off my SORN'd gc8 wagon as one on my bug wagon was perished on top

Additional photos of the ruined one

Additional pics

No idea what it's for but I have one on my Bugeye. Replace the stopper and leave it at that I would suggest

Does it actually go nowhere? On my car that nipple is branched off of the water pipe which leads from the water pump to the underside of the header tank. So the nippled part doesn't do anything but the pipe its branched into does. I assume its so that pipe can be used on other cars/models.

Yeah, I've done so by robbing the same item off my classic wagon, so still need another from somewhere

FMJ thanks for the identification, what I had meant is it's a branch which is dead ended by the rubber stopper

Nice and easy fix :

http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_tr...at=0&_from=R40

The top listing has size selections. Now you can colour code your end too
