Default A little advice on widebands

Well, looking to install a wideband to monitor AFR`s when i self map my car, i know there are lots out there but not wanting to spend loads, so was looking at the AEM version http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AEM-GAUGE-...item461399206d Anyone used it ?

And am i right in thinking, you can either tempoary fit the 02 sensor of the wideband in the tailpipe for tempoary monitoring of AFR`s, or can you install the 02 into the headers for a permanant setup ?

cheers

Best to weld a boss into the down pipe for a permanent fit. I use an innovate wide band very accurate if calibrated on a regular basis & can warn of lean running before an issue causes a failure.

Cheers, is the lambda thread the same pitch etc as a normal narrowband lambda ? reason i ask, i have a spare lambda thread in the headers and was thinking of installing it there if permanantly in place (original lamdba now relocated to aftermarket downpipe etc on 95 wrx)

Best place is in the down pipe for readings, EGT would go in the headers

As above, it's best to get a reading near where the factory O2 sensor is & the headers are nowhere near also excessive heat can effect the sensor.

My original lambda went in the headers, 95 wrx, i relocated the original to the aftermarket downpipe i fitted, so am looking to fit my wideband lambda in the now available spare lambda port the original went in.

when the cars being mapped the wideband goes in the tailpipe which is nowhere near the original location 02 sensor LOL, so not sure it matters where it goes as long as its in the exhaust !?!?!??????

Now looking at this wideband, seems alot more in depth and better than the LCD display type of the AEM etc ??

I use a AEM and made a temporary suction mount for the windscreen as I only use it when mapping. I run it in the tailpipe and it works great, a few pics below

Yeah the AEM seems to do a good job. Got it patched into my laptop via RS232 so the data can be logged in romraider etc.

sweet, sounds good, looking like i will go for the innovate version, prefer their display to the AEM lol

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3009765132...84.m1423.l2649

was going to get the innovate LC2 but for the extra £100 it seems too much of an AFR meter and i wont use half of what its capable of,plus it cant stay in the car

I fitted an LC-1 as it was a good match for the defis, lol, Not had any issues with it and easy to re-calibrate as and when, Innovate recommend the sensor to be fitted 9-12" after the turbo
