Default Any good rust treatments?

Hi guys I'm having issues with rust down either side of the windscreen behind the plastic trim on my classic wagon. I'm having a new screen fitted in a week or so and want to get it treated. Plan is to sand/grind it all down use a rust treatment and then paint it.

I just need to know what's good so I can go and buy it. Thanks Steve.

That looks good. Does that just wash off when it's finished, how long does it take mate in hours.

Yep, literally just wiped it off with a damp rag then rinsed off.

I left it overnight, but you could see it working after just half an hour or so. This Gel version is designed for stuff really that you can't remove from the car and viably dunk into the liquid version. If say you had a bolt which you wanted to de-rust, you'd buy the liquid stuff and dunk it in. If you had your track rod end for example, you'd paste on this gunk.

Cheers mate, I think I'm going to order some of that now along with a POR-15 starter kit. I've only ever used Kurust before and the idea was there but it just doesn't work well even though it's quick. Thanks for the help

I can vouch for Hydrate 80, but don't do the lid up too tight, it can be a real sod to undo again if left for weeks.

Mine was anyway. I just nip it down so it's air tight.
BH do loads of different products including clay bars and cleaning products.

Always seem to be fantastic quality. Their alloy wheel cleaner is wicked stuff.

Everything that BH do is brilliant. I've used most of their stuff over the last few years and never had the slightest disappointment.

Anyone who uses Waxoyl instead of BH stuff as a rust prevention coating nowadays is nuts.

Deox gel is the nuts.

The arches were minging and the threads on the coil overs were rusty as ****. Arches cleaned with Bilt Hamber surfex and two sessions of deox gel on the legs and hubs. The whole lot cept discs were sprayed with UB wax.
No I don't work for Bilt Hamber but their rust treatments work

Ordered some Deox gel and Deox 80 to do around my windscreen fella. Results on that strut are superb. Did you wire brush it first or just apply the rust remover. Cheers Steve
