Default Bellmouth Downpipe

Is there an actual benefit of one of these over the standard ?

Just appears to be such a minor change over the standard that I can't see the benefit/s if there is one or any ?

Cheers

Bellmouth downpipe is quite a bit different to std, much more opportunity for the wastegate to flow, here is a comparison pic I found on the net. On the std downpipe the wastegate flows against the flat plate.

The curious side of me now asks why it was originally made the way it was if it is as restrictive as it looks ?

It came on the car mate and its been mapped before I bought it. Previous cars didnt feel as urgent and had been mapped but not with an open mouth. I like changing exhausts but wouldn't change the downpipe style.
