Default Powder Coating - FMIC pipes

Guys, bit of advice please.

Ive been discussing getting my FMIC pipework powder coated before I fit it. I emailed a local company and was asked expected temperatures that the pipework could reach. After a bit of research on the web I concluded potentially around 170deg celcius. So I responded to them saying 200deg just to be safe. The company have advised that the coating would start to break down at 140-150deg so its not possible to do it. Now I know it can be done because ive seen it on several cars.

So............are my predicted temps way off the mark? Or is there another method by which I could acheive some nice red pipework! I think the Perrin ones come with red pipework so it must be possible!

Any input or advise appreciated

(For the record, car is 2003UK STi, hopefully soon to be around 400ish)

Take a look at this place, they seem to do lots of engine bits.

Wow that's hot! I have no experience of measuring the intake temps but that seems far too high! I would expect to be able to touch intake pipework with bare hands! Just a guess but are you sure you weren't getting your info from American's who were quoting Fahrenheit and not Celsius?

The turbo when worked hard can output air close to the 200 degrees celcius mark but i would be doubtful if much of that heat would transfer to the pipework.

Nice one, cheers lads! Knew you'd have the answer! I'll get them done!

Just for the record I'll see if I can dig out the test I found showing temps. It was in the states though as mentioned below so I could have got my units wrong!!

Here it is. From what I can see max intake temp pre-cooler is 314F at 20psi so about 157c? Pretty hot!

I'll still get it done!
