what is a plated rear diff
Basicslly they use like a series of clutch plates so under load they lock giving the impression of a locked diff (will spin both wheels at the same time) Upon slow cornering it will creak and on parking etc where more lock is out on the sterring you might find the inner wheel slips.
Not really what you would want mike as its more suited to drag cars IMO but iv never driven with one fitted I don't think so I could be wrong,,, the classic I was going to buy off bob had it done but never got a chance to see what it was like lol

My 05 blob STi has a plated rear diff in it, it depends how they are set up. You can set them very aggressivly so they pop and bang every time you go round a slow tight corner but most ones that are OEM fitted are fairly mile.
They have advantages over geared type LSD's as with a geared type ones 1 wheel leaves the ground the LSD effect is lost but with a plated type you can keep power going to both wheels.
