Default thinking of going 2.5 forged

thinking of going for the above set up in my 2005 sti for the simple reason more torque... has any one done this to a 2ltre blob??? what can theses engines take power wise safely as i want around 460/460 would this be possible on this engine?
cheers

Fully forged, yes, but why have you chosen that particular figure?

Keep in mind that, with that sort of power with a 2.5, you'll have torque too, and your gearbox, unless already a 6-speed, won't like it one bit.

Mine runs 400+/400+ in a classic and it's easily enough.

I did this a few years back. Went from 2.0 UK blob, to twin-scroll, and then forged 2.5 twin-scroll. You can read the spec here, and theres a dyno run further down the page. Im not into dyno runs, just did one because everybody was asking what it did. It what it feels like on the road that matters to me.

im thinking around that power as I have a mdx321t. its just a figure off top of my head really. I just want the torque mirroring the bhp or a tad higher. I have a 6speed already with dccd so hopefully that can take it.

I've hot a forged 2.5, but am about to get it rebuilt again with the CDB inserts, worth giving Alyn a bell @ asperformance to add these to the build as for 450 it's well worth it!

How much would it be to forge a perfectly good 2.5 engine that doesnt need a rebuild but is purely a preventative measure?

Ive built loads of 2.5's recently, all forged with a variety of turbos/specs. You should see more torque than bhp from a 2.5. A pretty std hatch made 360/390 a Hawk with a 20G made 360/410 and another Hawk with loads of other mods made 445/475 on an sc46.
Rule of thimb is the std scd block is fine at 450 but pinning or cdb is really a better choice over that.
Every build needs to be quoted for individually but this will give you an idea of what I can offer

Totally agree, I drive all sorts of these things and my favorite setup is a 2.5 with around 400 ftlbs, bhp is just pub talk after all ;-)
I'm just getting the parts together to put a 2.6 stroker in my Bug JDM STI, I think i'm addicted to torque.........my road car is a V10 TDI Touareg

Yeah it's a hell of an engine, it's not that bad of juice for A 5.0ltr either (20-28mpg), I am considering a re-map, to improve economy of course
