Car won't start without priming fuel pump.
Here's an odd one...
If I start the car (either hot or cold) without pausing on the auxiliary key position (when all dash lights are on) then it won't start.
If I pause for a second or two on the "ignition on" key position, before moving to the engage starter position it starts without fail.
Any ideas?
Car is a MY95 WRX with ESL board, good plugs, cat-back exhaust and filter.

Parallel fuel... On my mildly modified car, I'd prefer not to.. Simply because I don't think it will offer me anything extra... Plus, the inlet manifold is an **** to remove and refit...
How can you tell if the pump ha seen better days?

Sounds like a leaking regulator to me if the car runs ok once it has started.
It wont hurt to replace you pump aswell tho if its the original item, and i wouldnt be driving on boost if its not regulating.
Check to see if there are any splits in the vac hose first tho.
