Default First Post - Advice Please...(already)

Hi All, my first post here so be nice!!

Last week I bought an STI V5 JDM import with 87,000 miles.

Im new to Scoobies having been driving an MR2 Turbo for quite a few years now.

To my knowledge the STI has the following mods:

Coliovers,
Upgraded Pads (kevlar apparently but Im not sure)
Braided Brake Lines,
Front Mounted Intercooler,
Top Strut Mount,
Has been remapped but on the road not a rolling road so not sure on power,
Vortex exhaust,
Hard piping to the intercooler,
Knock Link and Lambda sensor in the cabin,
Running about 1.3 bar of boost on a standard turbo (V23 maybe?),
K&N big Induction kit looking thing

I have already booked it in for four new AD08 215, 45, 17 tyres and full alignment, including corner weighting. Thought making sure that was right first would be wise.

Now as I said ive still got my MR2 (in half rebuilt state) and im going to strip and sell it off, but what parts do I keep that would be worth at some point adding onto the STI, my suggestions are:

HKS F-con Vpro ecu (I know ill need a new harness and mapping)
Gizzmo Boost Controller (I know the standard ecu does this currently)
Brand new TD06 Greddy Turbo (I know this is big and would need a forged engine to fit)
HID lights (H4 on the MR2 I think and the same on the STI?)

Any ideas or comment would be helpful, no point selling things I might then have to buy again in the future!

There is some rust on the sills that I also need to look at and the petrol flap fails to open on request needing some persuasuin with a key (or plastic tyre iron I now have adopted as a key ring) but otherwise she is in very good condition and seems to have been well loved!!

Once fully aligned my plan is to take it to someone who can look it over and
A) tell me what else may have been done that I dont notice as non standard.
B) Test its setup to make sure it all safe and wont explode in the near future.
Local ideas on that too would be helpful, in Reading, Berkshire.

So again hello and over to you all for more inside knowledge

(Id put up a pic but not quite sure how yet!!)

Hi there

Welcome to SN firstly

Yours mods is already good starting point

About yours suggested mods and yours suggestions:

I wouldn't fit HKS F-Con ECU,I would sell this ECU with Gizmo Boost controller,if you will sell this you will for sure recoup some money, which you can use towards for better ECU such as ESL Daughterboard or AlacaTek,Syvecs

With HID lights I can't help you there, but many people went with projector lights, which are better option, but not cheap

I would also recommend better brakes, such as Brembo or K-Sport/D2 with good brake pads like PF Z-Rated pads,I know in most cases standard brakes enough, but when you are thinking to up bhp,the brake upgrade is best way

Yours suggested turbo is too big and can be very laggy, due this I would sell this turbo and buy rather TD05-18G or SC36 or even SC38/40 should do job nicely on yours

In yours area you have several good Subaru specialist like Zen Performance or FB Tunning,Subaru 4 You,those companies are highly regarded and highly recommended in Subaru community

HID H4's waste of money and time.

The accepted tyres for that car are 215/40 17's NOT 45.

Thanks for the feedback.

I thought the turbo might be a bit big, the hks fcon is a pretty capable ecu, what would I gain by switching for an alternative? Just wanted to understand before selling it off and regretting it!

The H4s on my mr2 were brighter than the lights currently on my subaru, was more wondering if they were hard to setup, surprised on yr view that a nearly free upgrade would not be worth doing.

The car was running 205 40 17 when I got it so also wrong then. AD08s in 215 45 17 was the closest I could find, I think the quality rubber is worth the slight speedo misalignment.
