Your current car could be fitted with either a 225mm one or a 230mm one, When I had mine changed in my old classic earlier this year I opted for the 225mm one for the simple reason that I didn't know what was currently fitted to it so I didn't want to get the bigger one then need to have the flywheel skimmed.
I ordered mine from bob at aztec >>> http://www.superhids.co.uk/clutches-...u-impreza.html

As said mate, It could be either - I was told this by Bob at Aztec as per my link above.
If you currently have a 230mm one fitted then you can replace it with either a 225mm one or a 230mm one but If you have a 225mm one fitted and you wanted to fit a 230mm one then you would need to get the flywheel skimmed as it would have a lip.
I opted for the 225mm just incase as I didn't want to go through the inconvenience of getting the flywheel skimmed if I got the 230mm and when my mechanic removed the old one found there to be a 225mm one fitted.

Not strictly true... Although 230mm ones are standard, 225mm one fits also so it depends what the previous owner has fitted to the car. If they have fitted a 225mm one and he buys a 230mm one then he will incur more cost to get the flywheel skimmed.

When you do a clutch change your suppose to get your flywheel resurfaced anyway,I know all about the 225mm size clutch and I know they were fitted to early Subarus but if he is going to go through the expense of a clutch change he might as well get one fitted that is a standard fitment size and still hold more power and torque as the 230mm size does when compared to the 225mm, if for example he has the 225 mm clutch fitted it's not really that much of a drama to fit the 230mm clutch after resurfacing the flywheel,he has asked for advice and I have given him some, stop trying to confuse the man.SJ.

Not trying to confuse him, I've said myself that standard is 230mm - I'm trying to help him and save him some money as although its advised to get flywheel skimmed, it's not always necessary.

230mm fits
225mm fits & will work fine.
230mm is what Subaru fitted when new. (The original clutch will be, 230mm and branded Exedy)
You do not always need to replace or skim the flywheel (despite what everyone trying to sell you a clutch kit will tell you)
Ps I fitted the 230mm Exedy version yesterday, pretty straight forward, Perfect fit, great quality. Dowels on the gearbox were a pain in the **** though.
Good luck.

If it's had a 225 fitted then getting the flywheel skimmed/replaced is going to be a good idea if you're moving up to a 230
If you stick with a 225 you may be fine sticking with same flywheel and not skimming it.

Well I been told mine should have a 230mm as standard.
so wont a 230mm fit my flywheel.
its has had a clutch before one I removed was a LUK.
how come I cant fit a 230 mm straight on with out having flywheel skimmed
there are no marks no cracks nothing.
all looks fine

The flywheel should have a small lip where the clutch plate went up to - it may be small enough for you to not see it but still cause judder ... it's not really worth it, imo either stick another 225mm one in there or get the flywheel skimmed and fit a 230mm one - the choice is yours.

I understand a bit more now
but if flywheel from factory was to have a 230mm clutch
and some one else has fitted a 225mm clutch
Then surely there wouldn't be a lip
mine is a w reg classic and have been told should have a 230mm as standard
