Sounds like it could be the bottom end knocking Has it come on progressively or just suddenly?

Have you checked to make sure the cambelt tensioner is strong, seen it where the pin looses tension and moves creating a knocking noise.

Forgive me for asking but what good will a compression test do if his big ends have gone?

I guess it could be the big end shells as suggested but that sounds more like piston slap to me.

Could be wrong through.

Noise is there all the time sorta goes away with a little rev car drives fine not that I've drove it hard or far since this noise started. Sounds like the noise is coming from top end. And when I put my hand on left side timing belt cover and press the noise seems to worsen

Check it's not a knackered belt tensioner. Heard similar noises before from such failed parts.

Waiting till it's stops raining or snowing to get the left hand timing cover off and check that side. The right hand cover is off and the lower gear you see has a piece cracked off and missing I'll try and upload a pic

Defo sounds like big end/crank, drain the oil through some clean cloth and check for debris (bits of bearing)

That's the first thing I done mate oil was still pretty fresh from last change no fragments in it what so ever. Also I have the magnetic sumpmplug and that didn't pick anything up either

Ive just had another listen and I would say it was the big end/crank. Another way to check is to take all the plugs out and with a clean screwdriver go around all the cylinders and turn the engine over with the screwy in the plug hole. when you feel the piston starting the downstroke try pressing down. If the big end has failed on one you will be able to feel it i.e. you can push the piston down a few mm.
