Default TD05H Big-20G Turbocharger

Would it be wise to upgrade stock TD04 turbo on newage 2005 Blobeye WRX (not STi) to a TD05H Big-20G Turbocharger ?

or what turbo anyone can suggest to give 300-350 bhp max, don't want any more power than this.

any advise / recommendations welcome .

Its not the worst thing you could do nor is it the best, alot depends on are you ready to fix things should they occur.Nothing lasts forever and certainly our car components will wear/tear as the miles increase.20g is a excellent turbo on a wrx,it makes good power and spools quickly

Is a TD05 18g worse than the suggested 20g by the OP?

Is your car standard ? If so then I would recommend changing full 3"exhaust, uprated fuel pump, sti injectors and maybe (not a must) a sti intercooler or front mounted intercooler otherwise it's not worth changing the turbo to any -vf34,18g or 20g

A 16g will make around 290 - 320 ish, 18g 330 -350 and 20G 360 -380 all dependant on fuel and set up and boost used.

I have ran a 20g on a stock box for a year.
If you don't launch you should be fine. Billet 20G is a fun turbo on a 2L

No dyno numbers but should be close to 400hp.
Rebuilt fully forged engine.

I ran a aggressive tune on a 16G on stock engine for about 8 months. Engine wasn't too good shape after though. But this is the older Ej20G too.

To the OP, I can definitely recommend the VF35, great mid range power. I have been told the VF34 is even better too.

Keep the TDO4 if you're happy with 300bhp!

I have had a number of mods on the 2005 newage WRX, but still running stock turbo, stock injectors and stock top mount intercooler, everything else has been upgraded. i think it will be 280bhp but certainly no more, thats what it made on Scooby Clinic rolling road Chesterfield, mapped by Duncan @ Race Dynamics.
whatever turbo i opt for, i know a remap is a must, but can I get away with keeping the stock injectors and intercooler, so to keep £££ down.

If I was in your shoes I'd look to fit the VF35 and the STI uppipe with it. Not sure on the injectors but the TMIC will be fine.
