Default Subaru diognostics

Hi there peeps I'm new to this hole scoobynet thing and to the scooby world
Well basically I've brought an Impreza wrx import, it's on l reg so don't no what year I think 93, just wanted to no of you could connect a diognostics machine to it to check to see if there's any faults, also the car has no lambda sensor or however you spell it how does that effect the car ? Do I need one? Another thing is the brakes feel quite spongy the guy who had it before me had brembos discs an huge callipers, not its got sti 4pots and drilled an grooved dicks on front, breaking is so sh"t at high speed if I put my foot hard on the brakes it will start skidding? Any reason why?

Cheers people I'm new to this whole thing so sorry for the long paragraph

The brakes are weak and spungy I have to press them hard to get a response and when doing speed of 60-70and I need to suddenly press them I need to press them harder to get to stop an at that time the skid, I asked a couple if people some said they might have air in them and some said they need bleeding ?

id advise you to take the car to a 'decent' mechanic in your area. better still if you find a mechanic who knows their way around scoobs!
