Default Early/later crank and cam sensors

As above... Whats the difference between them? I put a 92 wrx ra engine into my v3 sti while the original engine has some work done. I swapped over the sensors as the connections were different and didn't want to cut and change my loom, both sensors looked the same just different wiring. I only ask as it was running like a pig, missing, bogging down and cutting out, back firing and over fueling. Them the following day wouldn't start.. Could it be down to the sensors being the wrong type for the earlier engine? I have fuel coming into inlet and it's sparking, but just cranks over and will not fire up.

Cam and crank sensors are interchangable apart from the Version 1 type with the intergrated harness on it which runs to the back of the engine/bell housing.

That's the ones that was on the new engine I bought... Long wires coming off the sensors, where as my original engine had no wires running off the sensors, the wiring of the loom plugged into them.. So guessing I'll have to change them to the original sensors and adapt my loom?

Cheers
