Default Newage gearbox into a classic

My question is. I know it's possible to put a gearbox from a newage WRX into a classic impreza, but it's it just a straight swap or does anything else have to be changed in order for it to work.

Thanks

Matt

Depends on what age your'e putting it into, the early engine blocks only had 4 bolt holes tapped at the bell housing. That's not a problem except the newage gearbox doesn't have a threaded hole for the starter motor bolt like the classic does. It has a drilled hole for a longer bolt to go right through into the block, the early block has no metal where this threaded hole is in the newage block.
The easiest way to get round it is to run an m10 thread tap down the gearbox hole and use a shorter bolt to secure the starter.

Well my car is on a 98 R reg and I was thinking of changing the gearbox to 1 from a 2003 WRX.
